What’s Wrong with Teachers These Days

Cartoonist Daryl Cagle explains it all.

At the SLMS Conference in Albany, I heard a woman refer to a different type of parenting style, evidently gaining in popularity these days. I was familiar, of course, with the phenomenon of “helicopter” parents. But I hadn’t before heard of “snowplow” parents.

Clearing a path for their kids. Pushing obstacles out of their way.

Taken to the extreme, these parents are sometimes called “bulldozer” parents. And I’m sure every teacher (or coach, believe me) has met them.
