It’s going to be the last book festival of 2026 for me, and while I don’t like to play favorites, The Rochester Children’s Book Festival gives me the most time to meet & interact with my fellow creatives. At breakfast, over dinner, while wandering the festival itself, and back at the hotel bar for sarsaparillas. Some of us have been attending for 10+ years and have become old friends; others will be brand new. The festival itself has a long tradition. Every year, the community strongly comes out in support of young people and the arts. I appreciate it all, grateful to still get invited, thankful to the many good folks who dedicate so much time & effort to pull off a great big beast like a book festival.
There are also books and authors appropriate for teens, too. If you are busy, just throw ’em the keys to the car and hand over your credit card. What can go wrong?
On second thought, maybe it’s best to go as a family!

Great festival! Watch out for spider bees!
Sounds like a great festival. If it were near me I’d go. If you see Julie Berry there please give her my regards!
