Fan Mail Wednesday #151: Some Letters Are Just So Sad

When you are an author, and if you are lucky, kids send you letters. Some are formulaic, an assignment; others go deeper and seem more genuine. And some letters chip away at your heart — and you try to answer the best way you know how.

    How can one write this kind of fan letter? Seriously blank!

    I don’t know, Fan Letter, but I don’t have a problem receiving this kind of letter from a child. Obviously, she is sorting through a lot of things and they just spilled out onto the page. Which in a way is what writing is all about.
